I began my career in 1966 as a third-generation home
builder. Working under the guidance and direction of my father, I quickly advanced to the position of foreman. I was directly involved in and supervised the construction of new residential homes and numerous commercial buildings. My business quickly expanded to also include extensive renovation and restoration of homes constructed in the 1900 era. In the early 1990’s with a slow-down in new home construction, I began to explore the Home Inspection Profession. I attended seminars in Maryland to learn more about Home Inspections. With my extensive background and experience in all phases of house construction, including the installation of electrical, plumbing, heating & air conditioning, and the hydraulics of foundations, I began to pursue home inspections to supplement my existing business. Throughout the 90”s, I worked with General Motors to retrofit Automobile showrooms throughout Western Pennsylvania and became well versed in commercial building construction and the American Disability Act (ADA) guidelines

In 1991, I began performing home inspections. I continued to learn more about environmental issues, asbestos, radon, lead paint, mold and septic inspections. Home Inspections are crucial to those individuals involved and I take my responsibility to inspect the structures and to thoroughly advise the prospective purchaser. Over the years, my inspection business has grown to be one on the largest in the State of West Virginia.

In 2001, I was appointed Chairman of the West Virginia Association of Home Inspectors Legislative Committee to create the initial legislation to license home inspectors in the State of West Virginia. As one of the charter members of the WVAHI, the committee was charged with creating a set of guidelines to be followed by inspectors state wide. The initial legislation was created to establish continuity and accountability to insure an equitable home owner / buyer protection.

In 2004, my wife, Rose and I established Housebusters Home Inspection Company and Training Center. Housebusters is still our main business. In January, 2008, I became more interested in Energy Efficiency and I completed the training to become a Resnet Rater and a Building Performance Institute Analyst.

In 2010, West Virginia Northern and Pierpont Community Colleges contracted with me to be the Coordinator of the Energy Efficiency Grant provided by the West Virginia Department of Energy. During this time, I became a BPI Proctor / Trainer to educate individuals in West Virginia to become Energy Auditors. The energy program has educated over 50 individuals who have attained the Building Performance Institute (BPI) National Certification to perform Energy Audits or to perform the work to professionally air seal and insulated buildings in West Virginia.
